Southwind VDL is a retired showjumping horse who had a successful career in the sport. He was born in 1999 and was a Dutch Warmblood gelding. Southwind VDL was bred by VDL Stud in the Netherlands and was sired by the legendary stallion Baloubet du Rouet.

Southwind VDL was ridden by several riders throughout his career, including Canadian rider Tiffany Foster and Irish rider Cameron Hanley. Together, they achieved many notable accomplishments, including winning the Grand Prix of Eindhoven in 2012 and the Grand Prix of Ommen in 2014.

Southwind VDL was known for his athleticism, scope, and carefulness over fences. He had a great work ethic and was a reliable partner in the ring. In 2020, Southwind VDL was retired from the international sport and was given a big celebration to honor his achievements in the sport.

Southwind VDL has also become a successful breeding stallion, with many of his offspring competing at the highest levels of the sport. Some of his notable offspring include the mare Southwind VDL`s Great Blue, who won the Grand Prix of Ocala in 2019 with American rider Aaron Vale.
